Eligibility:

To qualify for the CHED Sugarcane Industry Development Act Scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements based on their program level:

Undergraduate Program:

  1. Filipino citizen: Applicants must be Filipino citizens to qualify for the scholarship program.
  2. Graduate of senior high school or with earned college academic units aligned with the identified degree programs
  3. Meets the entry-level requirements set by the identified State University or College (SUC)
  4. Certified by the Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) as a child or dependent of a Sugarcane Industry Worker or Small Sugarcane Farmer
  5. Combined annual gross income of parents or legal guardian does not exceed ₱400,000.00

Graduate Program:

  1. Filipino citizen: Applicants must be Filipino citizens to qualify for the scholarship program.
  2. Holder of a related undergraduate degree and meets the entry-level requirements of the identified SUC for a master’s or doctoral program
  3. Certified by the SRA as a child or dependent of a Sugarcane Industry Worker or Small Sugarcane Farmer
  4. Combined annual gross income of parents, guardian, or spouse does not exceed ₱500,000.00

RETURN SERVICE:

One (1) year per year of scholarship in the Philippines is required within two (2) years after graduation prioritizing:

  • Government agencies directly working with the coconut industry.
  • Other government agencies.
  • Private entities related to the Philippine Coconut Industry.

This service obligation is a requirement of the Sugarcane scholarship program and must be fulfilled by recipients after completing their studies.

  3. 3. Certification from SRA confirming the applicant is a child or dependent of a sugarcane industry worker or small sugarcane farmer
  4. Proof of income – submit any of the following:
    • Latest Income Tax Return (ITR) of applicant/spouse/parents/guardians (if employed)
    • Certificate of Tax Exemption from the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR)
    • Certificate of No Income from BIR
    • Certificate of Indigency from the Barangay
    • Certificate or Case Study from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)
    • For children of OFWs or seafarers – Latest copy of contract or any valid proof of income
  5. Notice of admission from a State University or College (SUC)
  6. Proof that the student belongs to a special group (if applicable)

  1. Diploma and Transcript of Records (TOR) of baccalaureate/master’s degree, or approved thesis/dissertation proposal endorsed by the Technical Working Group (TWG)
  2. Certificate of Good Moral Character from the last school attended
  3. Certification from SRA confirming the applicant is a child or dependent of a sugarcane industry worker or small sugarcane farmer
  4. Proof of income – submit any of the following:
    • Latest Income Tax Return (ITR) of applicant/spouse/parents/guardians (if employed)
    • Certificate of Tax Exemption from the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR)
    • Certificate of No Income from BIR
    • Certificate of Indigency from the Barangay
