Henry Sy, Sr., the founder of SM, understood the transformative power of education in breaking the cycle of poverty. That’s why he established the SM College Scholarships, aimed at helping low-income but deserving high school students attain a college education and secure a brighter future for themselves and their families. The scholarship program provides financial assistance for college and technical-vocational studies and supports access to primary education by constructing school buildings.
The SM Foundation’s vision is to create the Philippines where everyone has the opportunity for self-improvement. Its mission is to make targeted social investments in education, health care, livelihood, and shelter to assist under-served Filipinos in improving their lives. We will promote initiatives to protect and enhance the Philippines’ unique and diverse ecological heritage.

What are the qualifications?
- A Grade 12 graduating student from public and private schools in the areas covered. Applicants from private schools must have a DepEd voucher and be Grade 10 finishers from public high schools.
- Has a general weighted average grade of at least 92% or equivalent for Grade 12 – 1st semester.
- Has a total household income of at most P150,000 per year.
What are the requirements needed?
- Accomplished online application form
- Attachments to the online application:
- Parent’s or Guardian’s 2019 Income Tax Return / Certification of Non-Filing of Income / Certificate of Indigency
- Latest Grade 12 report card
- Birth Certificate
- 2×2 ID picture
- Sketch of home to the nearest SM Mall
What are the scholarship benefits?

Online Process Application Flow
| 1. Apply Online | Accomplish the online application form and upload all the required documents to https://scholarship.sm-foundation.org |
| 2. Processing and Evaluation | SMFI will assess the submitted application forms and documents. The applicant will receive an email notification regarding the status of the application. (e.g. “Declined” or “For Exam” |
| 3. Online Exam | The schedule of the online exam as well as the results of the exam will be sent via email. |
| 4. Online Interview | Exam passers will be interviewed via Google Meet by SM Foundation Schedule, and the interview results will be sent via email. |
| 5. Virtual Home Visit | The SM Foundation team will conduct random virtual home visits via Google Meet to those who passed the interview. |
| 6. Confirmation of School and Course | Successful applicants will be notified via phone call or email to confirm their school and course |
| 7. Orientation and Contract Signing | An email notification with the schedule of orientation and contract signing will be sent to the successful applicants |
