About CHED-SIKAP GRANT

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) is a governmental body established on May 18, 1994, under Republic Act No. 7722, also known as the Higher Education Act of 1994.

The CHED-SIKAP Grant, or Scholarships for Instructors’ Knowledge Advancement Program (SIKAP), is designed to support teaching and non-teaching personnel from Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in pursuing advanced studies.

Hi Hello. May I ask a question? I’ve only been working full-time for 4 months at a recognized college as a non-teaching staff (I’m a multimedia staff) by the time of this writing. Am I eligible for this scholarship grant? Or do I have to work 1 year first as a contract-of-service staff to be able to get this grant? Thank you!

    1. Hi, thank you for reaching out!

Based on the eligibility criteria for the CHED-SIKAP Grant, non-teaching personnel like yourself are eligible to apply. However, since you’ve only been working full-time for 4 months, it’s important to note the following:

      1. For Contractual or Contract-of-Service HEI Personnel (Full-Time): You must have an existing contract with the sending HEI at the time of the application and a “Very Satisfactory” or equivalent performance rating for the past one year.

      2. For Part-Time Contractual or Contract-of-Service Faculty: You must have an existing contract with the sending HEI and have continuously served the HEI as full-time or part-time faculty for three cumulative academic years, with a “Very Satisfactory” performance rating or equivalent (or SET for faculty).

Additionally, as stated, the performance rating requirement must be from the current HEI (the one sending your application), not from a previous employer. This means your performance rating should reflect your time at your current institution, and it’s not sufficient to present a rating from a previous HEI, even if you were employed there for over a year.

Since you haven’t completed one year yet, it seems you may need to work for at least a year before applying. Since this is an important detail, I recommend checking directly with CHED to confirm if there are any specific rules or exceptions that might apply to your situation.

Thank you, and I hope this helps!

  47. Hi! Is scholarship eligibility extended to freelance online teachers like myself?
