If you are a Grade 12 student planning to take a STEM course in college, this is something you should start knowing early.
The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) announced that it will launch a new scholarship called the GSIS STEM Scholarship Program or GSSP for Academic Year 2026–2027.
Important Note: This scholarship is not yet open for application. This article is for information only so you can prepare in advance.
About GSIS STEM Scholarship Program
The GSIS STEM Scholarship Program (also called GSSP) is a government program that will support 1,000 incoming college freshmen every year who will take courses in:
- Science
- Technology
- Engineering
- Mathematics
Each scholar will receive ₱15,000 per year to help with school expenses.
The program will run for four academic years (2026–2030) and will support a total of 4,000 students.
The goal of the program is to help create more professionals in science and technology who can help improve the country’s economy in the future.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for the GSIS STEM Scholarship, the applicant must:
- Be a child of an active GSIS member, or
- Be a child of a permanent total disability pensioner under 60 years old
- Be an incoming first-year college student
- Be accepted in a STEM course in a CHED-recognized college or university
- Have a Senior High School General Weighted Average (GWA) of at least 90%
Priority will be given to applicants whose parents:
- Have Salary Grade 15 and below, or
- Receive lower pension amounts
Reserved slots:
Out of the 1,000 scholars every year, 200 slots are reserved for children of:
- Persons with Disabilities (PWDs)
- Indigenous Peoples (IPs)
- Solo parents
Document Requirements
As of now, GSIS has not yet released the official list of required documents.
However, based on past scholarship programs, applicants may need documents such as:
- Proof of relationship to the GSIS member (example: birth certificate)
- School records (report card or certificate of GWA)
- Proof of GSIS membership of the parent
- Proof of acceptance to a STEM course
Reminder: Always wait for the official announcement from GSIS for the final list of requirements.

Start of Application: June 30, 2026
The scholarship is not available yet, and applications will only begin on the date stated above.
