Service Responsibilities of the Scholar:
As detailed on the official SPUD website, the following responsibilities apply to scholarship grantees:
- Daily Work Hours: Grantees must render 4 hours a day or 24 hours per week of service.
- Campus Assignment: Grantees will be assigned to an office on campus to perform clerical, housekeeping, or messengerial duties throughout the scholarship period.
- Summer Duty: Grantees must report for office work for one (1) month during summer in their assigned office.
- Return Service Commitment: After graduation, grantees must render 2 years of return service if hired by the scholarship grantor (SPUD), in any capacity based on the school’s needs.
- Alternative Placement: If not hired by SPUD, the grantee may be endorsed to another CEAP member-school in Dumaguete City to fulfill the return service.
- Non-Compliance Penalty: If a grantee is hired but fails to complete the 2-year return service, they must pay ₱50,000 in damages before clearance is granted. This is separate from any possible legal actions for breach of contract.
