About Northern Samar Medical Scholarship:
The (PGNS) Provincial Government of Northern Samar Medical Scholarship Program is a continuing initiative under Governor Edwin Ongchuan’s administration aimed at supporting residents of Northern Samar in pursuing medical education to enhance local healthcare services.
Eligibility Criteria:
Below are the requirements you need to meet to qualify for the Northern Samar Medical Scholarship Program.
- Must be a Filipino citizen and a resident of Northern Samar.
- Must not have any administrative or criminal offense convictions or pending cases.
- Possess good moral character certified by the dean of the last school attended.
- Must be certified as physically and mentally fit by a government physician.
- For incoming first-year students, age must not exceed 35 years; for upper-class students, not more than 45 years old.
- Must have passed the NMAT with a rating of at least 50%.
- Must be admitted to a medical degree program accredited by CHED.
- Should not be related within the 4th civil degree to any owner of a pharmacy or laboratory operating in Northern Samar.
Requirements:
Listed below are the specific documents required to apply for the Northern Samar Medical Scholarship Program.
- Obtainable from the Provincial Government of Northern Samar Medical Scholarship Program Secretariat/TWG at the Office of the Provincial Administrator.
- Certified true copy showing a minimum 50% score.
- PSA-issued copy.
- NBI clearance and voter’s certificate from COMELEC.
- Proof of admission to a medical program.
- Certified true copy for pre-medical courses.
- If not indicated in the TOR.
- Issued by the barangay of residence.
- Parent’s income tax return or exemption certificate; for indigents, a Certificate of Indigency from MSWDO.
- Recent certifications including a medical certificate, drug test result, and psychological test result (within specified periods).
- Proof of good moral character from the last school attended.
Requirements for Continuing Students:
For Second Year, Third Year, Fourth Year, Medical Intern, or Review Applicants:
- All the above requirements.
- Proof of enrollment such as a Certificate of Registration or any other proof of enrollment.
- Certified true copy of grades.
Return Service Requirement:
Recipients of the scholarship are expected to serve the Provincial Government upon obtaining their medical license.
Benefits:
The Provincial Government of Northern Samar continues to offer opportunities through its Medical Scholarship Program (MSP).
Eligible Nortehanon students enrolled in medicine at any CHED-accredited institution nationwide can apply.
Successful applicants may receive up to P170,000 per semester in scholarship benefits.
