PSU started in 1979, bringing together different colleges and programs from Pangasinan under one umbrella.

Originally, it included institutions like the Central Luzon Teachers College and the Western Pangasinan College of Agriculture.

Since then, PSU has grown, offering various programs and opening campuses across Pangasinan.

It even introduced alternative ways of learning through the PSU Open University Systems (PSU-OUS).

In 2009, PSU expanded further by opening a new campus in Alaminos City, showing its commitment to providing education to more people in Pangasinan.
