Eligibility Criteria:

Basic Qualification Requirements:
- Citizenship and Marital Status:
- Male or female, natural-born Filipino citizen
- Single, never married, with no children out of wedlock
- Legal and Age Requirements:
- Free from accusations or convictions of any crime against the law and the state
- At least 17 years old and not more than 23 years old upon enrollment on August 01
- Educational Requirements:
- Grade 12 student or college level
- Physical Requirements:
- Height: At least 160 cm (5 ft. 3 in.) for males and 155 cm (5 ft. 1 in.) for females
- BMI of less than 25
- Academic Requirements:
- At least of good academic performance
- Previous Enrollment:
- Has not been enrolled in PMMA
Disqualification Criteria for Incoming Probationary Midshipmen/Women:
Certain medical and dental conditions may disqualify candidates from entering the PMMA program.
Medical Disqualifications:
For Male Applicants:
- Undescended testicles
- Absence of one or both testicles
- Suspicious enlargement of testis or epididymis
- Varicocele
- Redundant prepuce
- Height less than 160 cm (5 ft. 3 in.)
For Female Applicants:
- History of childbirth/lactation
- Pregnancy
- Irregular menstrual cycle, including menorrhagia
- Dysmenorrhea incapacitating to a degree that causes recurrent absences
- Persistent ovarian cysts considered clinically significant
- New growths of the external or internal genitalia, e.g., myoma of the uterus
- Breast mass
- Endometriosis unless surgically eradicated or controlled
- Cervicitis, acute or chronic
- Generalized enlargement of the uterus due to any cause
- Cervical polyps
- Height less than 155 cm (5 ft. 1 in.)
For Male and Female Applicants:
- Lordosis, kyphosis, scoliosis (thoracic & lumbar) regardless of angle
- Severe bowleggedness or knocked knees
- Severe pes planus (flat feet)
- Acute or subacute arthritis
- Underweight or overweight (BMI of less than 25 required)
- Severe skin diseases (bacterial, fungal, or viral), excessive acne, warts
- Leprosy in any form
- Tattoo/hypertrophic tattoo scars causing disfigurement, extensive keloid scars, especially on the face
- Gross physical deformity or asymmetry, including extra or missing appendages
- Errors of refraction (nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism), strabismus, other ocular disorders
- Visual acuity less than 20/30 OU
- Use of contact lenses or eyeglasses
- Color blindness/defective color perception (Ishihara – perfect for BSMT and 2 mistakes for BSMarE)
- Deafness/perforated eardrum
- Severe or chronic otitis media
- Impacted cerumen
- Chronic sinusitis, nasal polyps
- Hypertension, abnormal ECG findings, heart abnormalities, or diseases
- Active PTB, massive pulmonary fibrosis, or other significant lung diseases
- History of asthma
- Lymphadenopathy
- Epilepsy, seizures, syncope, vertigo
- Anemia, blood dyscrasias
- Hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism
- Diabetes Mellitus
- Hepatitis B (active or inactive)
- Gallstones
- Chronic gastritis, peptic ulcer disease, duodenal ulcers, other GIT problems
- History of major surgeries within the preceding 6 months
- External/internal hemorrhoids, fissures, fistula-in-ano
- Old or recent fractures with internal fixation plates, screws
- Sexually transmitted diseases (HIV, gonorrhea, syphilis)
- Hernia
- Renal diseases and stones
- No current or maintenance medication for conditions such as hypertension, asthma, epilepsy, etc.
Dental Disqualifications:
Dental health is a critical aspect of overall fitness for the PMMA program. Candidates with certain dental conditions may be disqualified to ensure they meet the necessary health standards.
- Cleft palate and cleft lip
- Malocclusion (Class II, Class III)
- Lateral crossbite
- Open bite
- Tongue-tied conditions affecting speech, breathing, swallowing, or eating
- Missing four or more anterior/posterior teeth
- Complete upper or lower denture
- Impacted tooth/teeth
- Facial asymmetry
- Orthodontic brackets or appliances
- Oral tumors or cysts

How to apply:
Follow these steps to complete your application for the PMMA entrance exam:
Step 1: Create an Account
Go to https://pims.pmma.edu.ph/, fill out all the necessary fields, and wait for a verification email. Click the verification button in the email to proceed, then log in to your account.
Step 2: Select your Testing Center
Select the nearest and most convenient testing center. Note that once you submit your choice, you cannot change your selected testing center. You can view a list of testing centers, including their locations on a map.
Step 3: Upload your Requirements
Select your highest level of educational attainment, click the “Next” button, fill out the required fields, and upload your documents as requested. Ensure all files are correctly uploaded before proceeding.
Step 4: Review your Information
Review your data carefully and verify that all the information is correct and free of typographical errors.
Step 5: Wait for your Test Permit
Wait for the admissions office to process your test permit. Your test permit will include your room and seat number.

Entrance Examination
The PMMA Entrance Exam is administered on the last Saturday of October each year at selected testing centers nationwide. The test questions are objective and cover core subjects including:
- English (Vocabulary, Grammar, Analogy, Reading Comprehension)
- Mathematics (Algebra, Geometry, Statistics, Trigonometry)
- Science (General Science, Chemistry, Physics)
- Abstract Reasoning
Each applicant whose qualifications have been approved will receive a test permit via email from the Admissions Office.
Applicants must note the following:
- Arrive one hour before the examination.
- Bring the test permit with your attached 2×2 picture.
- Bring a valid ID and a Mongol Number 2 pencil.
- Calculators are not allowed.
- Wear casual clothes (sleeveless shirts, short pants, and slippers are not allowed).
Post-Examination Assessments
Candidates who pass the entrance examination will undergo further assessments, including:

Summer Orientation Training
The Summer Orientation Training is a one-and-a-half-month indoctrination course where probationary midshipmen are quartered at the PMMA compound.
During this period, “probies” are isolated from their families and friends and are prohibited from entertaining visitors.
Their days consist of a hectic schedule of military training, refresher courses in Mathematics and English, and introductory lectures in Navigation or Marine Engineering.
