About Universidad de Zamboanga
Universidad de Zamboanga (UZ) is a school in Zamboanga City, Philippines. It started in 1948 by a person named Engr. Arturo Eustaquio Sr. Originally, it was called Zamboanga A.E. Colleges.
But in 2005, it became a university and changed its name to Universidad de Zamboanga.
Engr. Arturo Eustaquio Sr., also known as “Turo,” came from Marikina, Rizal, in Luzon. He was born in 1909 and was really good at school. He went to Rizal High School and was the top student when he graduated in 1927.
After high school, Turo went to the University of the Philippines to study Civil Engineering. Even though it was tough, he finished in 1931 with great grades.
Because of Turo’s love for education, Universidad de Zamboanga grew a lot. It became a university in 2005. Today, it continues Turo’s legacy by giving students a great education and helping them become leaders in Zamboanga City and beyond.
