About Ateneo de Zamboanga University
Ateneo de Zamboanga University has a long history. It started in 1912 as a school called Escuela Catolica, run by Spanish Jesuits. Later, it became Ateneo de Zamboanga in 1916.
During World War II, the school faced challenges, but it stayed strong. After the war, it reopened in a new location. Then, in 1948, it became officially separate from the parish.
Over the years, it grew, adding a college in 1952 and a graduate school in 1976. In the 1980s, it worked hard to become a university. Finally, in 2001, it achieved university status.
This was a big deal because it meant more opportunities for students. The university is known for its excellent education and community service. Today, Ateneo de Zamboanga University continues to be a place of learning and service.
